Influence of the dispersant on the parts quality in slurry‐based binder jetting of SiC ceramics

Binder jetting is establishing more and in the ceramic industry to produce large complex shaped parts. A parameter with a great impact on quality of parts binder–powder interaction. The use slurries as feedstock for this process, such layerwise slurry deposition–print technology, allows flexibility composition. Such are typically composed powder, water, small amounts various additives. understanding effect these components printing thus essential development. Four models were developed regarding additives, dispersants printing. These confirmed or rebutted by experiments performed an SiC system two different concentrations dispersant commercial phenolic resin used binder. It shown that influence curing behavior clogging pores can be neglected. redispersion after has no only minor effect. However, wetting determined surface energies seem most crucial. In case energy additive significantly lower than binder, strength green will low. This was inverse gas chromatography, contact angle measurement, rheological characterization, mechanical tests casted samples.
